Vidas Im Propias

Book by María Pilar Rodríguez, Vidas Im Propias Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Vidas Im Propias books, Through the analysis of six Spanish novels, one for each decade from the 1940s through the 1990s, Rodrguez proposes a new concept of the novel of feminine development and emphasizes the importance of the voicing of women's sentiments, passions, desires, and opinions that have not been expressed before in the literature of Spain. The study begins with Nada by Carmen Laforet, and continues with La playa de los locos, by Elena Soriano, La placa del Diamant, by Merc Rodoreda, two stories from Te dejo el mar, by Carme Riera, Los perros de Hcate, by Carmen Gmez Ojea, and Efectos secundarios by Luisa Etxenike. In these texts, "la mujer espaola" of the Franco period's official discourse-woman as wife and mother as the most desirable possibilities of realization and development-is deconstructed into a multitude of vital, affective, and sexual options that confront this domestic image. These novels highlight the diversity of the feminine experience in the twentieth century and encourage us to question models of development that are monolithic and dogmatic.

Download Signs Of Science books, Signs of Science: Literature, Science, and Spanish Modernity since 1868 traces how Spanish culture represented scientific activity from the mid-nineteenth century onward. Spanish Modernism And The Poetics Of Youth

Book by Leslie J. Harkema, Spanish Modernism And The Poetics Of Youth Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Spanish Modernism And The Poetics Of Youth books, In Spanish Modernism and the Poetics of Youth: From Miguel de Unamuno to La Joven Literatura, Leslie J. Harkema analyzes the literature of the modernist period in Spain in light of the emergence of youth culture in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Harkema argues for the prominent role played by Miguel de Unamuno--as a poet, essayist, and public figure--in Spanish writers' response to this phenomenon. She demonstrates how early twentieth-century Spanish literature participated in the glorification of adolescence and questioning of Bildung seen elsewhere in European modernism, in ways that were not only aesthetic but also political. Harkema critically re-examines the relationship between Unamuno and several Spanish writers associated with the so-called Generation of 1927 (known as at the time as "la joven literatura" or "the young literature"). By situating this period within the wider framework of European modernism, Spanish Modernism and the Poetics of Youth brings to light the central role that the early twentieth century's re-imagining of adolescence and youth played in the development of literary modernism in Spain.

The Strange Girl In Twentieth Century Spanish Novels Written By Women

Book by Ellen Cecilia Mayock, The Strange Girl In Twentieth Century Spanish Novels Written By Women Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Strange Girl In Twentieth Century Spanish Novels Written By Women books, "With an eye to the rather insular, particular development and definition of feminism in Spain, the author recognizes that the twentieth century has been a period of great change for peninsular women authors. Her study of the creative compromises wrought by severe oppression followed by relative liberation, all within the context of Spain's specific religious and regional influences, illustrates the unique positioning of these women writers as shown through their female characters. While this is reflection of the current scholarship in Women's Studies (examining the feminist resonance of the construction of female identity through texts written by women about women), it is one that is in its first stages of development in Spanish criticism and has been primarily author-specific. Ellen C. Mayock's research provides a more panoramic view, so to speak, facilitating an overview of progression between trends, as opposed to a singular progression of a single author within the context of era- a very positive move that allows for full comprehension."--BOOK JACKET.
