Law In Times Of Crisis

Book by Oren Gross, Law In Times Of Crisis Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Law In Times Of Crisis books, The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the ensuing 'war on terror' have focused attention on issues that have previously lurked in a dark corner at the edge of the legal universe. This book presents a systematic and comprehensive attempt by legal scholars to conceptualize the theory of emergency powers, combining post-September 11 developments with more general theoretical, historical and comparative perspectives. The authors examine the interface between law and violent crises through history and across jurisdictions, bringing together insights gleaned from the Roman republic and Jewish law through to the initial responses to the July 2005 attacks in London. Three models of emergency powers are used to offer a conceptualization of emergency regimes, giving a coherent insight into law's interface with and regulation of crisis and a distinctive means to evaluate the legal options open to states for dealing with crises.

Safeguarding The Euro In Times Of Crisis

Book by , Safeguarding The Euro In Times Of Crisis Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Safeguarding The Euro In Times Of Crisis books, This book tells the inside story of those who played key roles in setting up the organisations and combatting the crisis. In exclusive interviews, global financial leaders and ESM insiders provide a rich stock of perspectives and anecdotes that bring to life the urgency of the crisis as well as the innovative solutions found to resolve it. The European Stability Mechanism and its temporary predecessor the EFSF provided billions of euros in loans to five hard-hit euro area countries during the European financial and sovereign debt crisis of the early 2000s, helping to safeguard the stability of those countries and the euro area as a whole. Initially, the crisis-torn euro area was ill-equipped institutionally, but the rapid establishment of the firewalls, the assistance programmes, deep‐seated country reforms, the strengthening of European institutions, and extraordinary European Central Bank measures shielded Europe from a euro area break-up. With the EFSF/ESM set-up, its managers aspired to create a new, more entrepreneurial international financial institution, one that is agile enough to respond quickly to new challenges, while still ensuring the strict governance befitting an organisation pursuing a public mission. The euro area has emerged from near disaster in more robust shape. As Europe strives to further strengthen its architecture in preparation for any possible future crises, it is important to reflect upon how the euro area reinvigorated its fortunes and draw the relevant lessons for future crisis management in Europe and beyond.

How International Law Works In Times Of Crisis

Book by George Ulrich, How International Law Works In Times Of Crisis Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download How International Law Works In Times Of Crisis books, For some time, the word 'crisis' has been dominating international political discourse. But this is nothing new. Crisis has always been part of the discipline of international law. History indeed shows that international law has developed through reacting to previous experiences of crisis, reflecting an agreement on what it takes to avoid their repetition. However, human society evolves and challenges existing rules, structures, and agreements. International law is confronted with questions as to the suitability of the existing legal framework for new stages of development. Ulrich and Ziemele here bring together an expert group of scholars to address the question of how international law confronts crises today in terms of legal thought, rule-making, and rule-application. The editors have characterized international law and crisis discourse as one of a dialectical nature, and have grouped the articles contained in the volume under four main themes: security, immunities, sustainable development, and philosophical perspectives. Each theme pertains to an area of international law which at the present moment in time is subject to notable challenges and confrontations from developments in human society. The surprising general conclusion which emerges is that, by and large, the international legal system contains concepts, principles, rules, mechanisms and formats for addressing the various developments that may prima facie seem to challenge these very same elements of the system. Their use, however, requires informed policy decisions.

Management And Leadership

Book by Stavros Baroutas, Management And Leadership Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Management And Leadership books, There is a plethora of theoretical books out there addressing management of human resources and responsibilities, in order to help organisations perform in the best possible way. Be that as it may, only a few of them suggest actual ways of applying what is written to everyday situations. This particular book constitutes a valuable tool in managers' attempt to put the basic principles of management into action in the workplace. This book involves certain concepts, notions and theories related to marketing, management and psychology, aiming to help the reader shape a broader impression of external reality. How do creativity and inspiration function? In which ways can individuals stimulate them? Which are the functions of human conscience and what do they serve for? Which are the positive and negative features involved in individuals' thought processes? What makes people change? What can individuals do in order to attain personal and professional success? How do leaders respond and operate in times of crisis? The above are only some of the questions raised in the book. According to my book, financial crisis tested all the social and economic environment. Things are changing rapidly and individuals have to change and adapt very fast in order to survive (this is the first part of my book "Personal Development") . Nowadays, a manager is concerned to be a leader. A kind of a hero. A person who can inspire, attack and come out intact from the transactions and reforms. Employees must give the extra mile to their leaders and from all these chaotic circumstances (environment ) they have to succeed for their own good! Furthermore, what individuals have to do in order to attain personal and professional success and how do leaders respond and operate in times of crisis? All these, in my personal opinion, responded in my book in order to give a few guide lines (second part) to anyone who want/need to change/survive today. An attempt is made to provide a plausible answer, in order to render the reader more aware of such concerns and stimulate a change for the better

How To Manage In Times Of Crisis

Book by Ицхак Адизес, How To Manage In Times Of Crisis Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download How To Manage In Times Of Crisis books, Humanity is facing a major challenge with the coronavirus. It is estimated that up to 60 million people world wide will die. Mostly older people or those with health issues. True , having health issues and being old. they would have died anyway but with the coronavirus we are talking about a major wave in a short window of time of hospitalized and dead people. Health delivery systems will collapse. Beyond 65 mil that will die scientist predict there will be hundreds of millions of sick people who will not be productive for a while till they recuperate. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to realize that such a wave of sick people, collapsing a health delivery system , will cause a major reduction in active customers and thus consumption. And factories will not be able to produce . And logistics companies to deliver. And as revenues shrink, companies are going to fire part of their work force, causing the health crisis to be now also an economic crisis, leading to recession and predictably depression. As unemployment grows and people on the lower level strata of society suffer income wise the most, there will be social unrest making the health and economic crisis be now a social crisis too. The unrest will call for strong government intervention and regulation that some liberal oriented people will consider anti democratic and too authoritarian bordering on dictatorship. That will make the medical – economic- social crisis to be also a political one. In other words, the year 2020 will be remembered and studied by generations of sociologists, medical researches, political science scientists and common men.The question that should occupy us is: what is a company supposed to do with such dire predictions? That is what this book is about.I hope you find it helpfulSincerelyDr Ichak Kalderon Adizes
